   Suitable for all levels

Whether you are interested in the novel, the short story or nonfiction (memoir etc) this course will be for you as it covers the basics of craft, regardless of genre.

Storytelling is the same in every genre.

The course will involve writing, reading and workshopping. In each class you can expect to do some writing which can be shared with the group and discussed. I will take you through some elements of craft. We will discuss the week’s reading assignment. Each week two students will be invited to submit work for workshopping.

This course is also suitable for returning students who have a definite project that they are working on and would like to place some structure around their progress.

Classes run over 8 weeks on Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm and are limited to 8.

The elements of craft covered each week are as follows:
Introductions and story openings. Characterisation.  Dialogue. Setting. Point of view. Plot and Theme. Language and description. Editing, Rewriting and Revision.
